Buying Motorcycle Parts On eBay

Buying Motorcycle Parts On eBayBuying on ebay there are three steps you must follow. The first step being the finding, second being price research, third being the confirmation of the part, and finally the negotiation. I will only glance over important parts of each one of these categories.

To find the part you must use the search bar wisely. Let’s take an example 2004 R6 Headlight is what you need. Ok well a 2004 r6 headlight fits a 2003 2004 and a 2005. Lets go one step further it is also called headlight assembly, lights, front lights and a couple random people being weird names but lets stick to the basics. So now you have a flashing cursor in the ebay search bar what to put in. Start with the basics 2004 Yamaha R6 Headlight (probably the best search). Now go through the results and add to the watch list anything that may be what you need. Now go back to the search bar and put in 2003 and do the same thing adding anything that may fit to your watch list. Keep using the different variables adding everything that is a good fit and now you have a pretty complete list.

Second now lets do some simple price research before we do that power buy move. Go to amazon and enter r6 headlight and just glimpse through the results ( by the way usually not many results Amazon has kind of dropped out of the used motorcycle parts race. Now go to google and type in yamaha r6 headlight but add an extra step. Right under where it says Google there is a little box that says show options, you need to click that and open it up and choose within the past week. This helps eliminate really old posts and can help you get an accurate current value. Now just kind of scan through the results. You will get some ballpark prices from these results.

Third now is the tough part you found the part you want and now you need to contact the guy that has it. Use the photos to confirm it is the right part. Make a list of any possible questions you may have prior to hitting that bid button and email them to the seller and wait for his response. Make sure he knows and you know it is the right part before bidding.

Now the big scary ( I don’t know why but it is for many people) part. Make an offer either through the make an offer option on some listings or email the seller. Bid low but do not bid so low as to insult the seller. Make sure you provide a statement or two of why you are bidding as you are it helps justiy your low bid. Never hit buy it now without doing all the above steps first. Buy it now is ok If the price is right but do your homework. And of course do not forget about us we are still the best deal in town for used motorcycle parts.
